Day 1 Hawaii
My mother drove us to the airport on Saturday May 2nd and helped us get inside with 1 large (and I mean large) suitcase, 1 medium suitcase and 1 small suitcase, 1 computer bag with 2 computers, 1 huge bag with snacks, movies dvd's hand sanitizer, clorox wipes, baby wipes, bandaids, trash bags books...(guess whose carry on that was???) 1 pink backpack and 1 camo. We boarded our plane and were told we were 3rd in line to take off. Well, I could tell if w didn't get out soon it would be a LONG time. Sure enough they shut down the run way due to severe storms. Fortunately I was prepared and pulled out coloring and activity books...and the flight attendants turned on Bolt (Sara's fave movie). The captain came on and said it was going to be a while before we would be taking off and it appeared we would miss our connection in LAX. I thought it would be okay...we would just fly out Sunday. Then all of the sudden the Captain came back on and said, "they changed our route and we'll be taking off towards the south. Flight attends prepare for take off" Off we went (with Bolt still playing). The ride was VERY bumpy. It really flet like we might crash, b/c the plane was being tossed so much. It felt like it was about to go rolling. I was scared, but I couldn;t help but laugh. My children thought it was great fun and laughed hysterically! When it ended they asked to do it again :-)! I love the innocence of a child. They didn't even know to be afraid! In LAX we had just enough time to grab something to eat and catch our flight! They had cancelled all of the other flights coming and so they were taking off early!!! That flight was LOONG. The little ones were VERY good until the very end. My son started complaining about how long the trip was and his ears hurt. I massaged them and that made him happy!! We flew in to Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. You may wonder why I don't have any pics...well I remembered benadryl bug spray (for my daughter...she's allergic to bugs), clothes, tooth brushes, wipes, swim wear, life vests, toys, EVERYONES EVERYTHING....and forgot the camera :-( seriously. That pretty much wraps it up for day 1...we finally fell into bed at the resort about 3 am-ish our time.
