True Love

When my parents got married back in the early 60's, the pastor doing their premarital counseling said somehing to the effect of....You think you love her now, but yo don't know what love is. Love is holding her head while she throws up and taking care of eachother....

Today I am going to dedicate this post to my husband who has shown me over and over again what love is....

When I was 8 mths pregnant with my daughter, I had the worst migraine imaginable. We were at the ER, I was huge, had the worst haircut (it was up to my nose and I have think curly hair...it was horrendous unless I straightened it), I had been throwing up all day and I was doped up on several kinds of pain meds. My husband looked at me and said, "you look cute." Then he kissed me on my head. That was the most memorable sign of "true love."

This past week, I have been so sick and weak and tired...and my sweet husband has taken meticulous care of me. He has cooked, cleaned, changed my humidifier, brought me pillows, taken me to the doctor and let me stay in bed ALL day everyday for like days. He has asked our children to be quiet for mommy, entertained them and he hasn't been mad at me once for all the extra stress. He has merely asked me if I need anything and how I'm feeling. He has told me I would likely be down until Friday...even then I need to rest a couple more days after that. He has been a great sign of true love and devotion. Thank you thank you thank you! I will never be able to express how thankful I am that my husband loves me that much!

Lucky Girl

So I ate Chick Fil A french fries...my first solid food in days. I am laying in bed with my warm mist humidifier, heating pad, doped up on my cough medicine watching Princess Diaries while my sweet husband is cleaning the house. I am a lucky girl. I am SOOO thankful God gave him to me. I never dreamed a man so good and kind and loving and hot would love me as much as my husband loves me.

Hopefully more rest will make me all better very soon...I know I'm nowhere near well, because I think the house is a disaster and it actually doesn't bother me to lay here. I may fold some clothes while I lay here...surely that is not too much work :-). I woke up in the middle of the night with a high temp again....the teeth chattering chills and shaking kind. I took some advil or Tylenol...whatever was there and went back to bed. The next time I woke up I still had a temp, but not a high one. Lesson I learned...don't stop taking your advil/tylenol just b/c you think you're fever is gone.

My sweet babies are playing at Gigi's. I think they are enjoying themselves...they adore their Gigi. She is very soft and gentle and has a motherly tone....it's good for them. I am positive they are better off there today....while the husband cleans and I rest. I have some pictures of them my mom sent me via cellphone...I will upload them later. Right now I am going to nap :-).

Gratitude

I must express my deep gratitude to my husband. He has really stepped up this week for me. He works harder than any man I know....as a small business owner he is all jobs wrapped into 1 person. He handles our finances and his businesses. He manages relationships with his clients as well as the companies he goes to. He handles hiring, firing, payroll, taxes and reports he has to write for clients...and reviewing the work his employees do. This week, despite having 10,000 things to do he has been my nurse and substitute. He has supplied food for our babies, he has picked up, he has gone to get me whatever I want whenever I want it. He has done some laundry, doted on me, rubbed my back, my head and been so sympathetic.

Now I must admit that he was right on a few points....never sleep with any sort of fan on when you have any amount of congestion (although I think my current asthma state is more to blame than the fan), go to the doctor immediately when you run an insane fever that will not respond to Advil/Tylenol. He's right, I should listen to his wisdom and concern. He may be a pain to listen to his nagging and worrisome concerns, but he does it all b/c he loves me that much.

My sweet husband and I were talking tonight. I told him thank you for doing my job and his this week...and he said, 'I didn't do it very well." It's true, he isn't the ideal replacement for me...he tries, but he has so much else going on...and his priorities are different. His comment actually spoke TONS to me....it made me realize he appreciates me and what I do. He loves me and he values me as a stay at home mom.

Now, my sweet husband will have to care for me for another week. It has become apparent that this is, as he diagnosed, pneumonia...I am sleeping sitting up and taking all my meds. He just smiles and kisses me on the head. I think I am the luckiest girl in the world to be adored so much.

My mom came and took the little people to her house. I miss them, but it's better for them. They are use to having more interaction and care from mommy. I can barely talk and when I do...I end up coughing for 20 min. I am wheezy and miserable. They seemed sad about going...they both said they wanted to stay with me. I knew it was best for them and for my husband. He needs to get some things done and have a little stress removed...caring for 3 people is pretty hard. When I talked to them tonight...they both seemed very happy. They are having fun as always and are getting some mothering from their Gigi. Tomorrow she will take my daughter to ballet and take them to a movie or something. Eventually we will pick them up...and maybe I will feel tons better by Saturday.

This stuff has pretty much wiped me out. My husband has been so kind. He even cancelled our trip to see his family, b/c he knows I need to rest and would be miserable...trust me that is big! He really hates to tell his mom we can't come.

I am thankful for my husband and his sweet care.

Molly

My husband bought this little Chihuahua for me as a replacement for a 3rd baby. As you can see she adores me. FOr the past 2 days I have barely moved out of bed and she has been pretty much right on me the whole time. My lab is a good gentle loving baby....but she's not allowed on the bed...and she's more interested in scavenging for food since the house is such a mess (whatever my children leave behind she eats). My kitty comes and snuggles when my Chihuahua isn't up here. I feel very loved...My sweet children aren't coming to close b/c they're afraid of my germs, but my son did bake cookies at Gigi's house and left some on my nightstand for me.

The doctor said this likely the flu turned into bronchitis/pneumonia. I have antibiotics, prednisone (which I haven't decided if I will take) and some cough syrup that will hopefully knock me out. I am still alternating my advil and tylenol...b/c it is BAD when I miss a dose. With it my temop comes down to 100.9 ish or even 101 something, which is more tolerable than 102.9.

Tomorrow we are keeping the little people home again, but my mom is going to come pick them up...and I am going to ask her to keep them over night and take my daughter to ballet Friday.

Sick

When my husband was out of town 2 weeks ago another guy flew down with him. Well, this guy was sick...and so last week my husband was sick and now I am sick. I am actually worse than my husband was...my fever stays around 102.something no matter how much I alternate advil and tylenol :-(. I can't talk, I throw up when I cough and I HURT ALL over....not to mention the lovely chills. My children have had it mildly, but nowhere near the way I do. Fortunately the husband is home...so he is feeding them daddy food....Taco Bueno, hot dogs...the only thing that hasn't changed is their morning oatmeal. I don't think they have brushed their teeth in 24 hrs. I did insist they get a shower last night, but we didn't get my daughters long curly hair combed. I am finally convinced this is more than the flu :-(...and so we are going to the after care office for my doctor. My doctor's office couldn't fit me in & I do not want to wait another night. I want cough medicine to KNOCK me out! Fortunately we are dropping the munchkins off with my mom, so she will likely feed them a fruit or veggie and comb my daughters hair :-) Maybe they will get another bath and brush their teeth, too! We can hope, huh? I forgot to mention they have watched more TV in 48 hrs than they have all year. They probably secretly like mommy being sick!

Valentine's Day 2009

Friday night the husband and I went on a date....we went to a movie theatre where you eat, too....I had sweet potato fries and ice tea, yummy! He had a bunch of nastiness...wings, some other kind of chicken things and cheese bread (which was DISGUSTING) and ice tea. We saw Taken which I was hesitant to see. I have never been a fan of scary movies, they plain scare me for years and years....now that I have children and essentially live alone...I REALLY avoid them for my own sanity. So, I went to see this just b/c it was playing at the time we were there. It turned out to be better and not nearly as scary as I perceived. Moral of the story...never ever let your daughter travel abroad alone...I would even say with in the US, tag along :-). I had already planned to be THAT kind of mother. As long as I don't let my daughter out of my sight, we should be good. It was more of a movie my husband would enjoy as well. I felt pretty yucky by the end of the night...so we came home and went to bed...and I slept for 12 hrs. The better news is my children did, too. We got up together and made heart shaped pancakes. I would have taken a picture, but everyone was really hungry! We laid around all day (my husband has been sick) and then went to have yummy soup at Corner Bakery.

My presents were 1lb of Twizzlers, a VERY sweet & funny card and a teddy bear that says I love you. I also got to go yesterday to get a manicure, pedicure and eye brow wax. That was fun! He said he is getting me flowers. He usually ordes them, but I have told him not to waste money on that anymore...just buy some at Costco.

I bought him a Guns n Roses Cd and a Metallica cd. I recently learned he's into metal...who knew! I guess b/c he listens to alternative christian these days I didn't realize he liked Metallica and such :-). I also gave him a box of chocolate turtles (one of his favorite candies).

Our children got a book (cool book, one is space with a globe that you put together and the other is a fairy one with paper lanterns), stuffed animal (puppy for my son and a giraffe for my daughter) and a small box of chocolates. Very fun for all of us...and I think we all feel loved :-).

Just a Note

Once upon a time about 10 yrs ago, I met my prince. We fell in love right away, but waited almost 2 1/2 yrs to get married. He felt I was young (22) and he wanted to get everything in order so we wouldn't have to struggle. At the ripe old age of 24 (and he was 29) we married. We enjoyed no car payments, a wonderful dream honeymoon..that was paid for in cash....and still some have tried to spoil our fairy tale. I put the spoilers on my end to rest pretty quickly. I presume they were acting out of jealousy. On my husband's side...it took a little longer. It wasn't until he stood up to them and let them know the obvious, I am his wife and he chooses me over them hands down, that they backed off some. Before that they had tried saying or doing things to cause trouble. Now we're facing a similar thing from a very unlikely source and it frustrates me. How is our marriage or what is b/t us anyones business, but ours? MY husband adores me just as I am...fat, skinny, silly, princessy, hysterical, sweet, irrational, sensitive, happy...whatever I may be he adores me and knows I am his soul mate. He wanted me, he chose me and he wouldn't want anything different. I chose him...I adore him just as he is. So before anyone thinks about stirring up *@$% as my BF says....think again....you won't win. We've been in love for 10 yrs and we're not going anywhere no matter what you try to stir up. We're more tied to eachother than you can imagine....We know eachother far better than anyone else has ever known us. That's the beauty of both being introverts....we only share what we choose to share with others, but with eachother we share just about everything. I am the only one he will truly be himself with....and vise versa! So, like I said mind your own business and we'll mind ours! :-)

I forgot to add my credentials for being a "cool" wife. To the person who thinks I am an "uncool wife" and prevented my husband from having a "supposed goodtime" I was 8 mths preggo and had a 1 yr old when my sweet husband PAID for and TOOK his "childhood bf" (and a couple of the "best friends" other friend's) to Vegas for his (the "best friend's") bachelor party. You know what my husband's bachelor party was???? Denny's and a round of Putt-Putt...who is uncool? Anyway, my husband does what he likes, contrary to some people's views....I am not the nag in the family, I do not control our finances or make the decisions. We don't tell eachother what to do.

My Sweet Girl....

My sweet girl has been complaining about her hair for a while. She wanted to be Snow White for Halloween, so she could have a wig with dark hair. In case you haven't figured it out, she wants to look like mommy. She has asked me to change her hair and she has asked me to change mine to blonde. Well, tonight she has just about convinced me to dye my hair blonde. She said, "Mommy I like your color of hair, I don't like my hair." Then she said, "I'm ugly!" Oh my gosh...I told her I NEVER wanted to hear her say that again. I told her, like I always tell her, you are beautiful just the way God made you! It is true, she is beautiful. I can't even imagine her with dark hair, b/c she wouldn't look right....just like I would make a terrible blonde!

Please Notice Above....

The beautiful holes in my son's jeans...EVERY pair of jeans he owns have holes like this. Every little boy I know his age have the exact same holes. He is now down to 2 pairs of hole free pants....I dread Kindergarten. How in this world am I going to keep up with his need for hole free pants???? I get to go shopping tomorrow for more jeans/pants. Fortunately his "holy" ones were from the Old Navy baby jeans sale...a whole $7 each. There once was a time that he was coordinated head to toe....sippy cup, socks, cardigans, shoes and hats....once his sister came along they were coordinated together. Yeah...now I am doing good to keep him in hole free jeans! My baby is a BOY!!!! :-)

For those of you who do not have a boy, let me intrduce you to what gives a boy holes....

Sliding on his knees just for sliding's sake
Jumping off of anything that looks like something to climb (Ie couch, rock, bench chair, playground equipment, the roof if I let him)
kneeling in the dirt/grass to dig and explore

Dinosaurs!

Saturday, January 31st, 2009
My husband's 37th birthday....

They were using their imaginations...to imagine they found REAL dinosaur tracks. Although I am not sure my daughter belived they weren't real. She stayed as far away from the dinosaurs as she could.

On the husband's birthday we went to a nature park and saw Dinosaurs and took a hike...it was tons of fun and NO whining! I don't know why I am so surprised we did go to New York and walk tons with little whining! We do take walks and ride bikes..so it's not like they are sedentary! I think they love to be out as much as we do.

My Daughter's Room

I really should have taken a before shot. Wow, who knew 2 small people could make such a gignatic disaster. It was down right scary. Yes, she does have sheets and blankets....but they're in the drier :-).

The Dining Room's progress

Yes, I braved the ladder and finished the top. Minus a huge puddle that landed in the floor (despite the nifty plastic), it went well and only took 3 hrs to do 2 coats (and attempt to clean the spillage). I still need to put it all back together and clean :-).

Pros and Cons

I am a big Pros and cons girl. I like to make lists before making decisions. I am also an optimist. So here is my pros and cons list for having a traveling husband...

Pros
Airline miles
hotel points
free trips when we tag along
We have our own routine when daddy is gone (b/c he's gone 90% of the time)
I am so use to sleeping by myself, so it is nice to have the bed to
less laundry
no nagging
less cooking

Cons
I miss him
I'm scared
I don't have anyone to play with after the babies go to bed
it's lonely
noone to help (although he doesn't do alot as far as house and babies...)
I'm so out numbered
